Course Info
Bent Brook is a single owner 27 hole daily fee golf course. With A.U.Victory Bent grass greens, zoysia collars and 419 fairways, tees and rough. We have recently just finished up a greens and bunker renovation We are currently reassessing and reconfiguring the golf course and the role trees play on it. We have removed 2000+ trees and are finishing up a 4 hole renovation we started in 2020. We will be hosting the Alabama Men’s State AM in 2022 for the third time since 2004.

Job description: Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
I am looking to fill 2 positions for Assistant Superintendent. Ideally candidates will have the ultimate goal of becoming Head Golf Course Superintendents.
Duties are to assist the superintendent in all areas of golf course maintenanance, focusing on the golf course and managing the crew in the day to day operations.This will include training new employees. You will learn to work with the equipment techs and learn the mechanics of what it takes to keep a crew moving. You will be immersed into the greens spray program. This includes assisting with and learning our herbicide, pest management, and all chemical and fertilizer applications in detail. You will gain knowledge and understanding of the products we use and why. This includes when to use what product, safe handling, product management, record keeping, safety protocols, and proper calibrations of spreaders and sprayers. This will all be under direct supervision of the Superintendent.
As the assistant, you will dive into the budget aspects of turf management along with equipment forecasting.You will learn how to put together a budget and forecast for the next year as well as 3 and 5 year plans.
Our goal for you is that you will become a Head Superintendent and be well equipped for the next adventure in your career.
Requirements:
Turf degree or equivalent certificate.
Drive and desire to succeed is important.

The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Grand National is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Superintendent position. The Assistant Superintendent will assist in the management of the golf course, practice facility and clubhouse facilities in order to maintain the highest standards of excellence.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail, passion for excellence and a positive attitude
- Knowledge of irrigation, fertilizer application and chemical related applications
- Knowledge of and experience with operation of turf equipment
- Certification in pesticide management preferred
- Must pass pre-employment drug test and be willing to submit to random testing throughout the term of employment.

Pay Status: Exempt (salary) position commensurate with experience.

Required Education: Associate degree (A.A.) in turfgrass management/golf course management or related field is required; four-year degree in horticulture or related field preferred; three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Grand National is currently accepting applications for an Assistant In Training position. This position will assist with the maintenance of the golf course, practice area, and clubhouse facilities in order to maintain the highest standards of excellence. The AIT will work in an advanced role to help strengthen his/her understanding in agronomics, turfgrass and staff management.
Qualifications
- Valid driver license required.
- Certification in Pesticide Management or the ability to work toward acquiring a Pesticide Applicator's License.
- Must pass pre-employment drug test and be willing to submit to random testing throughout the term of employment.

About Sunbelt Golf Corporation – Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail @ Grand National
Grand National is a part of Alabama's Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, which consists of 11 different facilities throughout the state of Alabama. Both the Lake and Links courses at Grand National were ranked #2 & #9 respectively by Golfweek's "Best Courses You Can Play in Alabama" for 2020.
Grand National has played host to numerous professional and collegiate events, including the 2019 Symetra Tour's Zimmer Biomet Championship, 2015-2017 PGA Tour's Barbasol Championship, 2000 NCAA Men's Golf Championship, 1998 LPGA Tournament of Champions, 1997 NIKE Tour Championship and annually hosts the Auburn University Tiger Invitational.
The Facilities at Grand National include 36 holes of championship golf, an 18-hole par 3 course and practice facility. Current playing surfaces consist of Champion Bermudagrass, TifDwarf Bermudagrass and Dominant Plus Bentgrass greens, 419 Bermudagrass Tees, Fairways & Rough. Assistant Superintendent - Old Overton Club, Birmingham, Alabama
Old Overton Club is looking for a motivated individual to join our golf maintenance team. We are private club that opened in 1993 and was named “Best New Course of 1994” by Golf Digest magazine. The course was designed by Tom Fazio and Jerry Pate with a full renovation of greens, tees and bunkers done last summer by Jerry Pate Design.
The duties of the job will include, but not be limited to scheduling of staff, pesticide and fertilizer applications, calibration, weed and disease scouting, irrigation management and repair, safety training, course setup, cultural practices, and special projects.
The requirements include:
2-4 year Turf degree
Must be able to lift 30#
Current pesticide license or ability to procure within 90 days
Valid driver’s license
Previous club experience required
General knowledge of golf
